South African Cultural Festival 2026, Ponta do Pargo
The Festa Cultural Sul-Africana brings Madeira's deep connection with South Africa to life on the island's far western tip. On Sunday 5 July 2026, the Centro Cívico da Ponta do Pargo fills with live music, food and market stalls for a free, all-day festival built for the whole family. Now in its second year, it honours the thousands of Madeirans who made South Africa a second home, and the new generations keeping those ties alive through music and culture.
Live on stage you'll find Ben Rodrigues, Anica Kiana and the Grupo Folclórico da Calheta, alongside a roster of DJs and acts, DJ Oxy, DJ Miki, Drums Djem, West Side and DJ RikiDeej among them, moving from African rhythms to Portuguese pop to Madeiran folk. Beyond the music there are more than ten food and drink barracas, South African and regional market stalls, cultural exhibition tents, and a dedicated kids' zone. It's a proper day out for all ages.
Good to know: Free entry. All day on Sunday 5 July, at the Centro Cívico da Ponta do Pargo. This is the far west, a car is essential; it's about 15 minutes from Paúl do Mar and a little over an hour from Funchal.
Stay close on the quiet west coast: our Paúl do Mar cottages Palheiro Mar and Palheiro Jardim are roughly 15 minutes away, with Casa Carneirinho for a larger group. See our Why Stay in Paúl do Mar guide to plan the trip.
