A fish house on the fishermen's avenue in Paúl do Mar, where the stone walls stop at windows that open straight onto the Atlantic. What you eat is whatever the day brought in, grilled and set on a white wooden table in a room as plain as the cooking.
About Sabor aMar - Fish Factory
The dining room is the right kind of plain: rough stone walls, white painted tables and chairs, a plank floor, and windows and doors thrown open onto the water. There is a terrace above it, which is the part of the restaurant people ring ahead for.
The cooking is as direct as the room. Octopus arrives with potatoes, tuna and parrotfish come off the grill, bolo do caco turns up beside them, and the desserts run to cheesecake, tiramisu and a passion fruit and mango mousse. Paúl do Mar is one of the island's fishing centres, and the restaurant stands on the avenue named for its fishermen.
