Funchal's Christmas Market is the heart of Madeira's festive season, turning the city centre into a glowing village of lights, stalls and seasonal traditions.
Avenida Arriaga fills with wooden chalets selling regional food, bolo de mel, poncha, crafts and roasted chestnuts, while the wider city is illuminated with some of the most elaborate Christmas lights in Europe.
Stay in the old town or city centre to experience the lights on foot. Carreira Solar and Carreira Vicente are both ideal for walking straight into the Christmas market each evening.
