The Madeira Ladies Open is back at Quinta Magnólia for its seventh edition, and it costs nothing to walk in and watch. Singles qualifying starts on Sunday 15 November 2026, the singles main draw begins on Tuesday 17 November, and the last matches are played on Sunday 22 November. Sixty-five players from 29 countries are entered, led by Portugal’s Francisca Jorge and Matilde Jorge, for $40,000 in prize money on the ITF World Tennis Tour.

Singles draws of 32 in qualifying and 32 in the main draw, plus 16 pairs in the doubles, fill the courts for eight days.
Good to know
  • CostFree, for the qualifying and the main draw alike. There is no ticket to buy and nothing to book, and the park the courts sit in is free to walk into as well.
  • Best dayWe would go on Tuesday 17 November, the first day of the 32-player singles main draw, when the first round fills the courts. Come on the final weekend instead if you would rather watch fewer matches and better ones.
  • Getting thereThe courts are inside the Quinta Magnólia park at Rua Dr. Pita 10, in the Lido, west of the centre, and you reach them through the garden.
  • With childrenYes, and free for them too. The park has a children’s playground and a restaurant and bar, so the ones who will not sit through a third set have somewhere to go.
  • If it rainsEverything is played outdoors on hard courts, so rain stops play and pushes matches further into the week. One reason to pick a day early rather than banking on the final Sunday.

Common questions

What People Ask Us About the Madeira Ladies Open

When is the Madeira Ladies Open in 2026?

Singles qualifying starts on Sunday 15 November 2026 and the singles main draw starts on Tuesday 17 November. The last matches are played on Sunday 22 November. All of it is at the Quinta Magnólia courts in Funchal.

Do I need a ticket to watch?

No, and there is nothing to book in advance either. What governs your visit is the park gate: Quinta Magnólia opens at 09:00 and closes at 19:00 on weekdays and 18:00 on Saturday and Sunday, so the Sunday that opens the week and the Saturday and Sunday that close it are the shortest watching days of the eight.

Which players are coming in 2026?

Sixty-five players from 29 countries are entered. Portugal’s Francisca Jorge, world No. 239, and Matilde Jorge, No. 242, head the list, with Switzerland’s Valentina Ryser and the Dutch former world top-50 player Arantxa Rus behind them. The Madeirans Madalena Fernandes, bronze medallist at the Under-16 Masters in Monte Carlo, and Francisca Marote are expected in the qualifying draw.

What is a W50 tournament?

It is a level on the ITF World Tennis Tour, the circuit where players earn the ranking points that take them up towards the WTA Tour. The Funchal event carries $40,000 in prize money, a singles main draw of 32 and a doubles draw of 16 pairs, all on outdoor hard courts.

When is the Madeira Ladies Open in 2027?

The 2027 dates are not out yet. Every edition since 2021 has been played in November at Quinta Magnólia, and the Associação de Ténis da Madeira announces the week on atmad.pt.
