A kitchen you can actually cook in
An oven, an induction hob, a full fridge freezer and the worktop to use them on. There is a supermarket in the ground floor of the building and a fish market fifteen minutes away, which makes that worth having.

You wake up facing the sea
The bedroom window looks out over the rooftops to the water, not into the courtyard. It is the difference between a flat near the sea and a flat with the sea in it, and it is the one thing the plan of the building decides for you.

There is a swimming pool on the roof
Open to the sky, with the Atlantic along one side of it. The lift goes up as easily as it goes down, and on a hot afternoon that is the shorter of the two journeys to water.
About this home
The fourth floor is the height at which the Lido stops being a street and becomes a coastline. From up here the hotel roofs and the awnings sort themselves out into a line, the headland closes the bay off to the east, and the water fills everything above it, so the view is mostly weather: flat and hazy in the morning, hard blue by noon, and lit sideways for about an hour before the sun goes down behind the cliffs to the west. Cruise ships cross it on Tuesdays and Fridays. It is the sort of view that people who booked a week here end up eating breakfast in front of every day without quite deciding to.
