The island's prettiest car show, set in the gardens of Quinta Magnólia. The best-preserved vintage and classic cars in Madeira are lined up among the trees, with extras in period costume recreating an early-20th-century scene. It's as much a garden party as a motoring exhibition, and probably the most photogenic event on the calendar.

Easy to fold into a city day: wander the gardens, admire the cars, then walk down to the Lido seafront or the centre.
Good to know: Free to wander the gardens. Daytime event. Quinta Magnólia is on the western edge of central Funchal, walkable from the Lido area.
A short stroll away in the Lido district, Lido Branca has a pool for afterwards.
