Two drivers we use ourselves, Diogo and Carlos, for the run in from the airport and for the days when the roads are not worth driving yourself. You arrange it by phone the day before, and the same person turns up.
About the drivers
There is no ride hailing worth relying on across most of this island, and the taxi rank that exists in Funchal does not exist in a village at ten at night. What people use instead is a driver's number, passed on by somebody who has used them. These two are ours. They do the airport run, they do the evening out when nobody wants to drive the road back, and they will take a day and drive the north coast while you look out of the window rather than at the next bend.
