Where to Stay in Paúl do Mar, Madeira
There are not many accommodation options in Paúl do Mar. The village is small, the infrastructure is deliberately limited, and that scarcity is the point. What does exist is well-chosen, and we have three properties in the village that between them cover couples, small groups and large groups.
For the bigger picture on the village, what it's like, things to do and the PR19 trail down from Prazeres, read why stay in Paúl do Mar.

Casa Carneirinho
The flagship west-coast property. A 1930s character home spread across three levels on Avenida dos Pescadores Paulenses, the main seafront road.
In brief: 5 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, sleeps 10, washing machine, dishwasher, fully equipped kitchen, TV, Wi-Fi, free parking. Village location — stock up at the supermarket in Calheta (15 min) before arriving.
Best for: Large families, multi-generational groups, group friends holidays, yoga or creative retreats. The only large-group villa on Madeira's west coast in our portfolio.
Palheiro Mar
A 90-year-old stone cottage, lovingly restored, on Impasse da Ribeira Chã, a short walk from the ocean. The original stone walls and timber floors are intact; the restoration brought in modern comfort without erasing the character. Stand at the door and you can see the Atlantic. This is the most romantic of the three stays.
In brief: 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom (compact ~2m², shower, toilet, basin), kitchenette, cable TV, Wi-Fi, free parking. Not suitable for limited mobility.
Best for: Couples on a romantic escape, surfers, slow travellers. Can be booked alongside Palheiro Jardim (next door) for a group of 4.
Palheiro Jardim
The sister cottage to Palheiro Mar, same heritage character, next door, slightly different orientation. Palheiro Jardim sits between the ocean and Madeira's green mountains; you get ocean views from the front and mountain views from the back.
In brief: 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom (compact), mountain and ocean views, Wi-Fi, free parking.
Best for: Couples who want quiet and nature. Hikers doing the PR19 trail, the path descends to the village from Prazeres. See the trail in our best hikes guide. Book alongside Palheiro Mar for a group of 4.
