A wooden caravel rather than a catamaran, sailing small groups out of Funchal marina along the coast east. Dolphins and whales when they are there, Ponta de São Lourenço and the Desertas on the longer runs, and a swim stop off the boat on the way back.
About Bonita da Madeira
The boat is a wooden caravel built in 1996, which is the point of it: where the catamarans off the marina carry a hundred and more, this one carries a fraction of that and sails rather than motors when the wind allows. The routes run east along the south coast towards Ponta de São Lourenço, with the Desertas on the longer days, and the crew go looking for dolphins and whales on the way. It is the quieter version of the same afternoon, and the reason to choose it is the deck you get to yourself.
